PICTURE STORIES: PANDEMIC HUGS DURING COVID-19 CRISIS
Mary Grace Sileo and her husband Domenic had been on lockdown since the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. They are a married couple in their mid 70's. Mary Grace was speaking to her son, Frank on the phone and expressed that she missed the physical contact of hugging her children and grandchildren. Her son came up with an idea to build a hanging clear plastic dropcloth held on a clothes line by clothes pins. It was Memorial Day weekend and they agreed to gather the small group in the backyard and hug each other through the dropcloth. These photos are a record of what happened that day. It is the first time they have had contact of any kind since the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic lockdown started in late February.
