PICTURE STORIES: BOXERS TRAIN DURING COVID-19 LOCKDOWN

Local New York Boxers have continued to train as best they can during coronavirus COVID-19 Pandemic. Since their local gyms have closed during the lockdown they have been resillient and creative in their training methods using backyards, rooftops, beaches, garages, and warehouses to hone their craft. The World Health Organization declared coronavirus (COVID-19) a global pandemic on March 11th.

He also owns a CrossFit Gym called CrossFit Jetty in Oceanside, New York. He was training to compete in this year's Golden Gloves tournament but it has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.  He also co owns a CrossFit Gym called CrossFit Jetty.  His gym has been closed by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo since March 16th due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.  Until the gyms are deemed safe to open he will continue to stay fit by training at home with the hope that he can box again later this year.

Alan is an Amateur boxer who fought in the New York City Golden Gloves and made the Semi Finals in the Open 123lb class. He was training to compete in this year's Golden Gloves tournament but it has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.  The Gym he fights for is called the Freeport Boxing Club and has been closed by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo since March 16th due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.  Until the gyms are deemed safe to open he will continue to stay fit by training at home with the hope that he can box again later this year.

Guerrero and his partner Michael Levitz have decided to closed their doors for good next week.  They will be moving their workouts online and at select locations.  Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that gyms will not be permitted to reopen during phase 4 until New York's Health Department determines if air filtering systems are circulating the coronavirus. More than 4,540,000 people in the United States alone have been infected with the coronavirus and at least 154,000 have died.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, many gyms across the country have been unable to sustain their business and had to close.  Jetty gym was one of the fitness clubs who had to shut their doors. They have since reinvented themselves and are now called Life Outside the Box.  Their business model has changed drastically, and all their workouts have gone virtual.  The workouts are conducted by a small group of fitness trainers led by Dennis Guerrero.  The members pay a monthly fee and can take as many live fitness classes as they want.  They are coached by the virtual trainers in real time.  More and more people have reconstructed their garages, spare rooms, backyards, and basements into home gyms since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the United States this past March.
